MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Century Iron, Cline Mining, Coalspur, Corvus, and Harvest Gold

Toronto-based Century Iron Mines has named Ghislain Arel, formerly of Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines, to its mine development team. He will spearhead efforts to bring a direct shipping ore deposit into production in the Labrador Trough.

Cline Mining of Toronto has named David J. Stone its new COO and Darren Nichols deputy COO of its subsidiary, New Elk Coal Company. Both men have extensive industry experience with Xstrata Coal in Australia.

The new managing director and CEO of Calgary’s Coalspur Mines is Gill Winckler. She has also been named to the board. Winkler is a veteran of BHP Billiton’s coal business and its Canadian diamond mining business.

Corvus Gold of Vancouver has appointed Carl Brechtel as COO and retained Quentin Mai for investor relations support. Brechtel's recent experience includes serving as manager of project development for Corvus and as president and COO for International Tower Hill Mines. His additional experience includes senior management positions with AngloGold Ashanti at various mining projects around the world.

Neil Richardson has been named COO and a director of Vancouver-based Harvest Gold Corp. A graduate of Cambrian College, he has 24 years of experience in both base and precious metals projects throughout Canada.
