SASKATCHEWAN - MOSAIC COMPANY of Plymouth, Minn., has been forced to close its K2 potash mine near Esterhazy temporarily due to the failure of a hoist bearing. The problem occurred on Oct. 22, 2007, and will take approximately two weeks to repair.

About 100,000 tonnes of production will be lost due to the bearing failure, but Mosaic (www.MosaicCo.com) says its estimated 2008 production will remain between 8.5 million and 9.0 million tonnes.
