QUEBEC – Argex Titanium of Montreal has begun preliminary engineering work with vendors for the longest lead time items for its commercial sized titanium dioxide facility in Valleyfield.

Enrico Di Cesare, Argex's COO and VP technology, said, "The ongoing testing work that we have been carrying out with many of the equipment vendors have led to their improved understanding of our requirements and this has led to materially reduced delivery times. In some cases, weaker market conditions for required equipment have also improved the delivery times and prices previously expected."

Argex intends to begin producing titanium dioxide pigment in 2015 using concentrate from its La Blache titanium-vanadium deposit near Baie Comeau, QC. The company has developed a proprietary process to produce a pigment of 99% TiO2 purity.
