The holiday season was not one of much mining news, but we are ready to get back in gear and bring the most interesting stories to CMJ readers. Four days a week they can read our Headline News to stay current on the most important digest items from Canadian miners working here and abroad.

Sign up for CMJ's Daily Headline News at our website CanadianMiningJournal.com/subscription/emailnewsletter.aspx. It's free!

We also have a terrific line-up for the print edition that is mailed 10 times a year. This month, January, we bring information on projects in British Columbia and Yukon plus Newfoundland.

The February/March issue features the mineral industry of Ontario. And everyone going to the PDAC convention is welcome to stop by the Canadian Mining Journal booth at the trade show and say "hello".

In April CMJ will be taking a comprehensive look at mine safety. Safety is the cornerstone of the mineral industry. Awareness of it, training for it, and insistence on the highest standards assure everyone will go home safe and sound at the end of each shift.

The June/July issue will examine Sherritt International, a Canadian coal producer an a Cuban nickel miner. We will cover the company in depth with articles about the company's leaders as well as its operations.

The energy issue in May will feature the oil sands and coal producers. Production of synthetic crude oil is increasingly important to our country's economic future, and around the world the use of coal is growing. Canada is a major player in both commodities.

Our very popular ranking of the Top 40 Canadian mining companies will appear in the August issue. Readers want to know who had the largest gross revenues in the preceding year and who is on (or off) the list compared to the previous one.

Readers will enjoy a roundup of new mining technology published in the Summer issue. This is an opportunity to look toward the future and learn about the means of increasing productivity while reducing costs and environmental impact at every stage of an operation.

The September issue will look at Canadian gold producers. The yellow metal continues to fascinate, and the strong demand (think high price) makes even redevelopment of historic producers possible.

For many years Quebec has been among the best places in the world for mineral exploration and development, so no one should be surprised that that a variety of projects are nearing production, perhaps the most notable is the province's first diamond mine. Read the October issue to find out what's new in La belle province.

CMJ's Buyers Guide in November is a must-see. This is the only such publication highlighting Canadian suppliers. This is a quick introduction to hundreds of companies that offer a comprehensive range of equipment, products and services. If you want your business listed in print and online, or if your information needs updating, go to CanadianMiningJournal.com/miningonline/. The basic listing is free.

We plan to round out next year in December with features about Canadians working abroad. The mining industry is thriving on six of seven continents, and many of its professionals most in demand are from Canada. Read about their experiences.

We hope all our readers will become even better informed or learn something new by reading our Daily Headline News and the printed, monthly issues.
