ONTARIO – Vancouver-based Goldcorp and the Wabauskang First Nation near Red Lake have signed an agreement that paves the way to long term economic benefits for the local community. The deal provides a framework for collaboration in the development and operations of Red Lake Gold Mines.

This is the sixth collaboration agreement that Goldcorp has signed with First Nations communities. The company now has agreements that cover all its gold producers in Canada: Red Lake, Musselwhite, Porcupine and Éléonore.

"This agreement is a significant achievement for our community," said Wabauskang Chief Martine Petiquan. "Agreements like this one are an essential part of ensuring that our treaty rights are respected when companies want to develop the lands and resources in our territory."
