TORONTO – Hudbay Minerals has finished 2013 with a loss of $109.3 million, or $0.59 per share. The previous year, the company experienced a loss of $23.5 million or $0.12 per share. Revenue totaled $516.8 million in 2013, compared to $702.6 million in 2012.

Hudbay had heavy capital spending commitments last year as the Lalor gold-zinc mine and Reed copper mine in Manitoba neared completion. Construction of the Constancia copper mine in Peru was more than 56% complete at the end of 2013. As well as construction, Hudbay mined lower grades at the 777 copper mine in Manitoba. Both the Trout Lake and Chisel North mines were closed in the second half of 2012.
