SASKATCHEWAN – Claude Resources of Saskatoon has been forced to temporarily suspend mining operations at its Seabee gold complex 125 km northeast of La Ronge due to the forest fires in the region. The suspension is due to the risk of high winds potentially bringing heavy smoke and ash into the mine area from a fire about 8 km south.

Milling is not affected and will continue using a stockpile of 10,000 tonnes of ore. That is sufficient for 12 days production.

This year's fire season came early and ferociously to the dry Canadian west. Northern British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan have been hardest hit. Fire fighters from the Canadian military and as far away as Australia are battling the blazes.
