MINING PEOPLE: Arianne Phosphate, Barrick Gold, Continental Gold, and Hatch

Arianne Phosphate of Saguenay, QC has named Brian Ostroff its CEO and Jean Lamarre as chairman of the board. Toronto-based Barrick Gold Corp. has struck a new Growth Committee of three to guide the company toward its goals for the Twenty-First Century. The committee includes newly appointed executive VP exploration and growth Rob Krcmarov, senior executive VP strategic matters Kevin Thomson, and after the annual meeting in April, executive VP and CFO Catherine Raw. Mateo Restrepo is now president of Continental Gold in Toronto. He is a former VP of a Glencore subsidiary and brings a thorough knowledge of  the Colombian mining sector. Fred Cummins has been chosen to lead the infrastructure business of Hatch in western North America. He will be based at the company’s offices in Vancouver.
