Tim Miller has joined Vancouver-based Atacama Minerals as its new president and CEO, effective Dec. 1, 2009, upon the retirement of Edward Posey. Miller was formerly VP Central and South America at Goldcorp.

 

Toronto‘s Cline Mining Corp. has named Dennis Z. Mraz to the position of executive VP and COO.

 

Excel Gold Mining of Montreal has named Jacques Roy as chairman and CEO. He will focus on the company’s Montauban mine gold and silver exploration program in Northern Quebec.

 

Vancouver‘s Opawica Explorations has appointed Michael Meyers as president, CEO and a director. A lawyer, Meyers is also one of the vendors of the company’s recently acquired Yukon Bro massive sulphide property 120 km southeast of Faro, YT.

 

Joao Manuel is the now the president and CEO of Petaquilla Minerals. He joined the company in December 2008 as COO after a serving as CFO at Petaquilla Copper. The company additionally named a new non-executive chairman, Richard Fifer.

 

Romarco Minerals of Toronto has strengthened the team at its Haile gold mine in South Carolina with the hiring of Johnny Pappas as director of environmental affairs. His career includes environmental management positions at the Climax and Cortez mines as well as senior engineering positions with Pacificorp, Plateau Mining and Santa Fe Pacific Gold.

 

John Carter has succeeded Eric Plexman as president of Trueclaim Exploration of St. Thomas, ON. Plexman, founder of the company, is now CEO.
