MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Barkerville, Orbite, Redzone and Silver Spruce

Barkerville Gold Mines of Vancouver has named Ross Hollinger mine manager for the Bonanza Ledge project and QR mine in British Columbia. Hollinger is a University of British Columbia graduate.

Denis Primeau is Orbite Exploration's recently appointed chief engineer. He holds a BSc and MBA from the University of Sherbrooke.

Vancouver-based Redzone Resources has named Colin K. Benner as the new independent chairman of the board. He is an experienced mining executive with more than 40 years in the industry in Canada and globally. He was most recently chairman of PBS Coals Ltd., vice-chairman and CEO of Skye Resources and previously vice-chairman and CEO of Lundin Mining Corporation and EuroZinc Mining Corporation.

Bridgewater, NS-based Silver Spruce Resources has promoted Peter Dimmell to the post of president and CEO from his former role as VP exploration. He replaces Lloyd Hillier who has resigned. Dimmell is a past-president of the PDAC and is an independent director and technical advisor of three other publicly traded junior mining companies in Canada.
