OTTAWA – Mining companies that want to invest in projects to boost efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions can apply for federal funding if they are meeting Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) protocols as set out by the Mining Association of Canada.

The funding, up to 50% of eligible expenses up to $40,000, will be provided by the Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC), a division of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

“This is a significant endorsement of the Towards Sustainable Mining initiative and powerful recognition of the program’s effectiveness in improving energy management practices at Canadian mining operations,” said Pierre Gratton, MAC president and CEO. “We thank the government of Canada for making funds available that will assist Canadian mining companies in their pursuit of improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions at their sites.”
