As the year winds down, many of us are battered by the global economic meltdown. Even the people who are supposed to prognosticate the outcome are in disagreement. Bah, humbug to them. Let us set aside our worries for the next week and concentrate on friends and family, happy faces, fresh white snow and what is right in this world.

This time of year is packed with festivities. The winter solstice is just behind us, and the days are cold. December features several Christian festivals culminating on Christmas Day and topped off with Boxing Day. The Jewish festival of Hanukkah runs a full eight days. The secular gala of Kwanza begins on Boxing Day and runs into the new year. Everyone looks forward to ringing in the New Year.

From all of us at Canadian Mining Journal to our readers: Happy Holidays, no matter how you celebrate.
