Aber Diamond Corp. has named Lars-Eric Johansson to its board of directors. He currently holds the position of executive VP and CFO at Noranda Inc.
Ariane Gold of Longueuil, Que., elected Leanne M. Baker to the board of directors at its annual meeting on June 16. She is currently a consultant to a number of companies in the mining sector and before that worked as an equity research analyst at Salomon Smith Barney.
It is a new CFO and a new address for Beartooth Platinum Corp. The company is moving to 885 Dunsmuir St., Suite 910, Vancouver, BC, V6C 1N5, and Craig C. Smith is taking over the financial reins from Kenneth Scott.
There are new faces on the Diamond Fields International board of directors and its management team. Gregg J. Sedun is the new president and CEO. John Collier, Earl Young, and Roger Daniel have become directors. Jean-Raymond Boulle has stepped down from the board and his responsibilities as interim chairman and CEO.
There is a new president and CEO of Diavik Diamond Mines, Joe Carrabba. He comes from Rio Tinto’s Comalco Aluminum in Australia. He also worked at Rio Tinto operations in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Jean-Marc Lulin is the new president and CEO of Exploration Azimut. His appointment was effective June 5, and interim-president Andr Gaumond will remain on the Azimut board. Jean-Charles Potvin, president, CEO and founder of Tiomin Resources, has been also been appointed to the company’s board.
Gemcom Software has named Garth R. Albright its new CFO and corporate secretary. He replaces Donald Leslie, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities.
Edward J. Badida, with over 35 years of financial management experience, has been appointed CFO of Guyana Goldfields. The company is awaiting the final mining licence for its Peters project in Guyana.
Lake Shore Gold of Vancouver has named Dr. Michael J. Byron as its new VP of exploration. He holds the same position at Aurora Platinum, which owns 58.5% of Lake Shore Gold.
Manhattan Minerals has appointed Horng Dih “HD” Lee as its new CFO and corporate secretary. He has also been elected to the board of directors.
Suncor Energy has appoint J. Kenneth (Ken) Alley its new senior VP and CFO, effective July 1, 2003. Alley is currently Suncor’s VP of finance and will fill the position to be vacated by Steve Williams, who is moving to Fort McMurray, Alta., as executive VP Oil Sands.
Tiberon Minerals of Calgary has named Mario Caron its new president and CEO. He brings his considerable experience in mine development, government negotiations and project financing to the task of advancing the Nui Phao polymetallic project in Vietnam. Clifford Davis has been elected to the company’s board of directors. His 39-year career includes both operating executive experience and institutional equity financing. Davis is currently chairman of Geomaque Exploration and held executive positions at Gabriel Resources, TVX Gold, and Echo Bay Mines. He is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines in London, UK.
Titanium Corp. has announced the appointment of Douglas Miller as VP of research and development. He will oversee the operation of the company’s bench-scale metallurgical testing facility at Dalhousie University in Halifax.
Yamana Resources of Spokane, Wash., is moving its executive offices to Toronto, and will arrive with a new management team. Peter Marrone will be president and CEO; Antenor Silva will be COO. The team will also include Melvin Klohn as VP exploration, Seiiti Nakamura as construction manager and Evandro Cintra as exploration manager. Yamana is pursuing the acquisition of producing gold mines in Brazil.
