QUEBEC – Metanor Resources of Val d’Or, QC, and the Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee)-Cree Regional Authority, and the Cree First Nation of Waswanipi have signed a socio-economic participation agreement for Metanor’s Bachelor gold mine currently under development 225 km northeast of Val d’Or.

The deal was developed on the principle of mutual respect between the parties and the interests of all stakeholders in the success of the Bachelor project, says the mining company. Cree peoples will be afforded business and employment opportunities during every step of the project. A joint implementation committee will oversee the opportunities as they arise.

The Bachelor mine is a former producer that is expected to return to full production by the end of 2012. The property has six gold bearing zones with total measured and indicated resources of 841,591 tonnes grading 7.79 g/t Au. There is also an inferred resource of 426,148 tonnes grading 6.52 g/t Au. Longhole mining with short sublevel intervals is planned to provide ore to the 1,000-t/d mill on the property.

Details are available in the technical report of April 2011 posted at Metanor.ca.
