AUTOMATION NEWS ABB Sharpens Automation Focus

ZURICH, Switzerland On Jan. 1, 2004, ABB will merge its six automation business areas into three globally-focused segments. The move is a continuation of earlier consolidation moves that were lauded by customers.

The new Process Automation business will blend control products for all industries with paper, minerals, marine and turbocharging units. The Automation Products business merges current low voltage products and instruments with drives, motors, and power electronics units. The robotics, automotive and manufacturing business is renamed Manufacturing Automation. All divisions are accessible from www.abb.com.
