LAKE LOUISE, Alberta - The Steering Committee for Mine Closure 2011 invites abstract submissions from persons wanting to present at an industry-leading, international conference on mine closure and reclamation. The conference will be held in Lake Louise, AB, from Sep. 18-20, 2011.This will be the sixth international mine closure conference, held for the first time in North America. 

The goal of Mine Closure 2011 is to share mine closure successes, develop a better understanding of multi-disciplinary requirements and identify best management practices. Mine planners, managers, engineers, scientists, financial specialists and community engagement practitioners will assemble to participate in a program that integrates the many disciplines involved in mine closure. Delegates will learn about innovative mine closure techniques, strategies and processes. 

Anticipated topics include revegetation, erosion control, failures and lessons learned, regulatory issues, financing, groundwater management, monitoring after closure, decommissioning tailings dams, and much more.
