NORTHWEST TERRITORIES – De Beers Canada of Calgary has decided to see if the Snap Lake diamond mine 220 km northeast of Yellowknife can be sold. The company has engaged the Bank of Montreal to market the property. The mine, opened in 2007, was put on care and maintenance in December 2015. De Beers has permission to flood the underground mine, but it will postpone the action until the end of the year as it looks for a qualified buyer.
