GREENLAND – Vancouver-based True North Gems has begun pouring the concrete for the mineral processing plant at the Aappaluttoq ruby and pink sapphire project in the Fiskenaesset region. The floor has been poured and the wall and ceiling panel installation is underway.

Other work at the site is progressing. True North said that all camp buildings have been erected and insulated. The northern lake has been lowered sufficiently to allow a trail to be constructed from the plant building to the main pit. A temporary explosives magazine has been established, pending the permitting of the permanent facility. All other permits for the project have been received, and full security measures are being installed.

The mine has an expected life of nine years. Production is to begin later this year.
