QUEBEC  – Winter drilling by Balmoral Resources of Vancouver at its Martiniere gold property 50 km east of the Detour Lake gold mine has cut some good grades. So far three holes from the southern portion of the Bug Lake Gold Trend are reported:
  • 08 g/t Au over 12.56 metres, including 199.00 g/t over 0.85 metre;
  • 55 g/t Au over 4.47 metres including 72.40 g/t over 0.64 metre; and
  • 31 g/t over 15.42 metres including a higher grade core of 6.08 g/t over 5.30 metres.
The Martiniere gold mineralization occurs in a large mesothermal gold-bearing system similar to those that have yielded so much gold in the Abitibi. The system has been traced for 4.0 km in an east-west direction and 2.0 km north-south. The Martiniere system is bordered on the south by the Sunday Lake deformation zone which hosts the Detour Lake gold deposit 40 km to the west. More information is available at www.BalmoralResources.com. (The image of visible gold on the company’s home page is worth a quick look.)
