BURKINA FASO – High River Gold Mines of Toronto has poured the first doré bar at its Bissa gold mine 100 km north of Ouagadougou, the capital. The C$250-million project was built in only 15 months, reaching completion ahead of schedule and on budget.

Ore from the open pit Bissa mine is treated in a conventional carbon-in-leach plant at a peak production rate of 200,000 oz/y. Anticipated cash costs are US$600 to US$700 per ounce. Based on measured and indicated resources of 75.8 million tonnes at 1.23 g/t Au plus an inferred resources of 63.3 million tonnes at 1.22 g/t Au, the project has an expected life of 10 years during which time approximately 1.8 million oz of gold will be recovered.

Bissa is High River's second operating gold mine in Burkina Faso and the third in Africa. In Burkina Faso, the company already operates the Taparko mine, which was the first mine built in the country in 2007.

The 43-101 technical report issued in July 2012 on the Bissa project is posted at HRG.ca.
