ONTARIO - Kirkland Lake Gold, with mines and offices in the town of the same name, is coming off record monthly production of 16,485 oz of gold (recovered) in February. The mill treated 32,862 tonnes at a head grade of 17.8 g/t Au and a recovery rate of 96.8%.

George Ogilvie, president & CEO commented, "We are happy to see the positive momentum continuing, particularly considering February was only a 28 day month. We have made a lot of changes over the past 14 months, and our team has met the challenges posed to them head on."

KLGold said that more stopes have come online in the high grade South Mines Complex. Stopes are active on the 5400 where the reserve grade is 19.5 g/t. Mining will begin on the 5600 level, where grades are 24.0 g/t, by mid-year.

The company reports improvement on several operating fronts. The transition from ore production to paste fill is now going smoothly. The availability of the mobile fleet was increased by changing the tire supplier. A new jumbo has been put to work, and the battery operated equipment had more uptime than before thanks to a dedicated battery team.
