NEWFOUNDLAND – Toronto-based Marathon Gold Corp. has been testing gold recoveries on samples from its Marathon deposit in the Valentine gold camp 55 km south of Buchans. Thibault & Associates has completed bench scale tests on samples from the Marathon deposit grading 3.55 g/t Au. The program included gravity separation, flotation, cyanide leaching. The gravity circuit recovered 59.4% of the gold. Flotation recovery was 94.7% to a concentrate grading 89.2 g/t Au. Carbon-in-leach techniques recovered from 94.4% to 98.6% of the gold, depending on variables. The combined recovery was 89.4% to 93.4% without treatment of the tailings. When the tails were run through a CIL circuit, overall recovery was boosted to 98.1%. Marathon says the Valentine gold camp currently hosts four near surface deposits that hold a combined total of 1.06 million oz of gold in material grading 2.20 g/t (measured and indicated). There is also an inferred resource of 200,000 oz in material averaging 2.85 g/t Au. A detailed description of the Valentine gold camp and maps are available at www.Marathon-Gold.com.
