ONTARIO and QUEBEC – Anyone exploring for gold (and sometimes it seems 90% of explorationists are thus engaged) is likely to smile broadly when imaging long intersections of strong grades. It takes more than a few good holes to make a successful gold mine, but here are some recent results that will have gold bugs grinning.
Osisko Mining Corp. of Montreal has cut 54.0 metres of 5.5 g/t Au at its Upper Beaver project in Kirkland Lake, ON. That intersection included 11.0 metres of 18.7 g/t Au with 1.9% Cu. Upper Beaver is a former producer that turned out 140,000 oz of gold and 12 million lb of copper during intermittent operation from 1912 to 1971. (Osisko.com)
Sirios Resources, also of Montreal, has one of the longest intersections that we have noted in quite a while – 191.4 metres grading 0.214 g/t Au. That's an respectable grade, and within that intersection there was 46.0-metre section that assayed 0.50 g/t. These assays came from the Cheechoo gold project in the Opinaca area of James Bay, QC, close to the Éléonore gold mine currently in development. (Sirios.com)
Integra Gold Corp. of Vancouver continues to drill noteworthy mineralization at its Lamaque project in Val d'Or, QC. The latest results from the No.5 plug include 38.74 g/t Au over 1.8 metres, 10.90 g/t over 3.0 metres and 21.12 g/t over 1.0 metres. The zone is open at depth below 650 metres. Integra's property is adjacent to the former Sigma and Lamaque gold mines. (IntegraGold.com)
