QUEBECWesdome Gold Mines of Toronto has new, larger resource numbers for its Wesdome gold deposit 10 km northwest of Val d'Or. A study completed by InnovExplo suggests that contained ounces in the indicated category were three time higher than a similar report prepared in 2005. Contained ounces in the inferred category were four times higher.

Using a cutoff of 5.0 g/t, the indicated resource totals 335,900 tonnes at 7.46 g/t Au for 80,564 contained ounces. The inferred portion totals 2.3 million tonnes at 8.05 g/t Au for 598,017 contained ounces.

The company believes the new interpretation demonstrates reasonable continuity in a number of zones. It further believes the deposit will continue to grow as more drilling is done, likely from both surface and underground.

The new resource estimate includes 21 gold-bearing zones located approximately 4 km north of the Kiena gold mine. The zones strike southeast and dip from 45° to 70° southwest. Wesdome says the mineralization is associated with fractures and shear zones up to a few metres thick, with a variable amount of quartz veins containing pyrite and gold. Several rich enlargements of the quartz sulphide lenses are observed at the junction of the main quartz veins with other structural features or at the contacts of intrusives. These features are typical of the nearby, past producing Siscoe and Sullivan mines.

More information is posted on the company's website, www.Wesdome.com.
