MINING PEOPLE: Alabama Graphite, First Point, Iamgold, Jaguar Mining, Pan American Silver

Toronto-headquartered Alabama Graphite Corp. has named Don Baxter as president and CEO. Ron S. Roda, former president and co-CEO, has resigned. Trevor Rabb is the new VP exploration at First Point Minerals in Vancouver. Ron Britten has stepped down from that position but remains an advisor to the company. First Point’s flagship property is the Decar nickel-iron alloy project in British Columbia. Iamgold Corp. of Toronto has named Sybil Veenman to its board of directors. Most recently she was senior VP and general counsel at Barrick Gold. Toronto’s Jaguar Mining has announced that George Bee is leaving the position of CEO and Rodney Lamond has been named his successor effective immediately. Pan American Silver has named Michael Steinmann as CEO to follow the retirement of Geoff Burns on Dec. 31, 2015. Steinmann is currently the company’s president having joined it in 2004 to lead the geology and exploration departments.
