Altius Minerals of St. John's, NL, reports that its current chairman John Baker has agreed to accept the newly created full time position of executive chairman, effective June 30, 2014. Baker was a co-founder of the company in 1997 and has been the chairman since 2005.

Vancouver-based Geodex Minerals named Christopher Ecclestone president, CEO and a director. He is a metals strategist with a particular focus on specialty metals. Before moving to the United States, Ecclestone was founder and head of Buenos Aires Trust Company.

The new CEO and director of Vancouver's Global Minerals is Tim McCutcheon, a mining and finance professional with expertise in the precious metals sector in eastern Europe and Africa. He was the founder and a partner at DBM Capital Partners. Former Global CEO and president William Pincus, is now the company's executive chairman.

Globex Mining Enterprises of Rouyn-Noranda, QC, has appointed William (Bill) McGuinty to the role of VP operations. Most recently he served as VP exploration at Queenston Mining until it was taken over by Osisko Mining in 2012. McGuinty has served as co-chair of the advisory panel to Canada's Corporate Social Responsibility Counsellor and is now a member of the Ontario Mines Minister's Mining Act Advisory Committee and the PDAC CSR Committee. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish.

Martin Shefsky will succeed Nuno Brandolini as chairman of the Northern Gold Mining board in Toronto. Eric Moeller, a company founder, is now president and CEO as well as an executive director.

Montreal-based Orbite Aluminae has a new director of engineering, Diane Neron. She will oversee completion of the company's 3-t/d high pressure acid facility at Cap-Chat, QC. She has over 25 years of experience in the materials, mining and metallurgy industries. Prior to joining Orbite, Neron was a senior project manager with Bechtel and SNC-Lavalin. She holds a BSc in metallurgy from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.

Orvana Minerals Corp. of Toronto has named Neil Ringdahl its new COO. He brings over 20 years' international experience in mine operations, development and management. He is the holder of a bachelor's degree with honours in mining engineering from the University of Witwatersrand.
