MINING PEOPLE: Darnley Bay, Focus Ventures, Tahltan Nation Development, Timmins Gold

Darnley Bay Resources of Toronto has strengthened its management team with the addition of Timothy Smith as VP operations, Judith Dudley as VP environment, and Halina McGregor as CFO. Vancouver-based Focus Ventures has named Gordon Tainton its new president. He has more than two decades of experience in the fertilizer industry. Former president David Cass has stepped down. Peter Arendt is the new CEO of the Tahltan Nation Development Corp. in Vancouver. He is a senior mining and energy professional with more than 30 years of experience. He is a graduate of the University of Queensland. Outgoing CEO Garry Merkel will continue working with TNDC in an advisory role during the transition. Timmins Gold Corp. of Vancouver has appointed Greg McCunn to succeed Mark Backens as CEO of the company. Most recently, McCunn was CFO of Asanko Gold, and prior to that he was CFO at Farallon Mining.
