Joining the staff at the QR gold mine belonging to Vancouver's Barkerville Gold are mine manager Kevin L. McMurren, mine geologist Arnie Pollmer and consulting mine geologist Dr. Art Ettlinger.

First Point Minerals of Vancouver has named Brian Soregaroli as VP of corporate development. He is the holder of an MBA from Simon Fraser University and a BSc from the University of British Columbia.

Robert J. Stocks of Fasken Martineau has been named to the board of Toronto-based Golden Hope Mines. He replaces Louis Hoel.

John B. Gammon has been elected to the board of the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) in Washington, DC. He is president of John Gammon Associates, a consultancy based in Toronto, which advises governments, industry, and multilateral institutions on policy and management matters. From 1988 until his retirement from government service in 2005, Gammon was Assistant Deputy Minister of Mines and Minerals for Ontario.

Kodiak Exploration of Vancouver noted that Terrence E. King has stepped down as CEO and a director of the company. George Salamis, formerly of Placer Dome, Cameco and Rusoro Mining, will replace him on the board. Salamis is also president and CEO of Edgewater Resources.

The new COO at Vancouver's Western Coal is Neil Winkelmann. He has held senior operating positions with Australian coal producers and recently led project analysis for Rio Tinto's copper group.
