Toronto-based Equinox Minerals will welcome Colin (Cobb) Johnstone as its new COO in January 2010. He is a mining engineering graduate of the University of Sydney and was most recently COO for Australia-based Sino Gold Mining.

 

Rockhaven Resources of Vancouver has asked Marc Blythe to be its VP of business development. He has a degree in mining engineering from the Western Australian School of Mines and an MBA from La Trobe University in Melbourne. He holds a Western Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and has successfully managed mines for both Placer Dome and WMC Resources.

 

Brent Hendrickson is the new VP of exploration at Vancouver's San Marco Resources. He has expertise in gold exploration, particularly in Nevada. Hendrickson holds both a BSc in geology from the University of Minnesota and an MSc in geology from the South Dakota School of Mines.

 

Silver Quest Resources of Vancouver has announced two senior appointments. Yale R. Simpson, who holds a BSc in geological engineering from the University of British Columbia, is joining the board. David Pawliuk has been named VP exploration; he holds a geology degree awarded by the University of Edmonton.

 

Randy V.J. Smallwood and Frazer Bourchier are taking on new responsibilities at Silver Wheaton Corp. of Vancouver. Smallwood, a co-founder of the company, will become president, relieving Peter Barnes to concentrate on his duties as CEO. Bourchier will be VP business development and technical services. The appointments are effective January 1, 2010.

 

The new chair of Toronto's Victory Nickel is Cynthia Thomas. She succeeds Warren Holmes, who will remain on the board. Additionally, the company has expanded its board with the nomination of Roland Horst.
