Nearby ice bodies will be protected. Chilean approval states that "the company shall only access the ore in a manner that does not remove, relocate, destroy or physically intervene (with) the Toro 1, Toro 2 and Esperanza glaciers."

 

Water quality will be protected. Stringent regulatory conditions set by both countries will ensure water quality and quantity is not affected for downstream communities in Argentina and Chile.
