From Peter McBride, manager of communications at the Ontario Mining Association, comes this comment on the Sudbury Area Mining Service and Supply Association survey:
"The SAMSSA study is tremendous and it demonstrates the real economic impact of mining and the industry's potential for regional development and infrastructure support. However, the SAMSAA study doesn't tell the whole story - perhaps it tells half or maybe a third of the story. The mine supply and service sector flourishes in all parts of the province not just in Northern Ontario. Take a drive along the Queen Elizabeth Way heading west from downtown Toronto and note the names on many of the buildings. Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington are not strangers to the mine supply and service sector."
