SASKATCHEWAN - Fission Energy Corp. (50%) of Kelowna, BC, and partner Korea Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) (50%) have plans to double exploration spending to $30 million at the Waterbury Lake project in the Athabasca Basin. The money will be spent over the next three years.

The Waterbury Lake property surrounds the producing Midwest uranium deposit. Winter exploration drilling resulted in the discovery of the J zone. The zone continues to the west and is open in both the north and south directions. Assays from the new zone include 21.6% U3O8 over 3.6 metres at the unconformity. Fission says the mineralization is shaping up to be a classic Athabasca unconformity deposit.
