ONTARIO – North American Palladium (NAP) of Toronto is having success after success with its drilling program near the Lac des Iles (LDI) palladium mine 85 km northwest of Thunder Bay.

Surface drilling on two areas of mineralization have allowed NAP to make resource estimates. The initial numbers for the North VT Rim are 338,895 measured tonnes grading 2.02 g/t Pd (1.0 g/t cut-off). The Sherriff zone contains a measured and indicated resource of 5.28 million tonnes grading 1.48 g/t Pd. And in surface drilling early stage exploration targets, the company recovered 2.52 g/t over 7.0 metres at the Creek zone and 3.44 g/t over 10.0 metres near Shorty Lake.

The Offset underground zone is the target of infill drilling, and the results are increasing confidence for development next year. Notable intersections in the central portion, where phase one mining will occur, include 36.0 metres at 7.68 g/t Pd, 41.0 metres at 6.13 g/t, and 42.0 metres at 5.23 g/t.

NAP noted that its current exploration focus is on evaluating potential lateral underground growth next to the Roby and Offset zones because lateral development will be cheaper than expanding the mine a depth.
