REVIEW: Environmental assessment begins for Ajax copper-gold mine

BRITISH COLUMBIA - The environmental review has begun for the proposed Ajax copper-gold mine 10 km southwest of Kamloops. The project is being developed by a joint venture of Vancouver-based Abacus Mining & Exploration and KGHM Polska Miedz SA of Poland. The project description has been filed with the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (www.EAO.gov.bc.ca) and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency.

The Ajax property includes the historic Ajax East and West pits mined by Teck Resources in the 1980s. An open pit and 60,000-t/d mill is planned. Details are posted at www.AMEMining.com.
