BRITISH COLUMBIA – Operator of the Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine, Taseko Mines of Vancouver and the Williams Lake Indian Band (WLIB) have signed a participation and co-operation agreement. The deal calls for creation of an implementation committee and community engagement, as well as education, training and economic development initiatives.

Chief Ann Louie said, "We are extremely pleased to conclude this agreement with Gibraltar Mines Ltd. [The] Gibraltar mine has been in existence since the seventies, and we know that it's not going anywhere. Now we have clarity as to how we can work together to deal with future activity at the mine. We are hopeful that this will be the beginning of a lengthy and co-operative relationship."

Taseko (TasekoMines.com) has undertaken several expansions in recent years at the Gibraltar mine. Annual production is now 165 million lb of copper.
