COAL DEVELOPMENT No.8 mine to begin production

ALBERTA — Grande Cache Coal of Calgary has received all the necessary permits to begin mining the new No.8 surface mine near Grande Cache. The company expects to be producing coal from No.8 during the first quarter of fiscal 2010, which begins April 1, 2010.

Grande Cache operates several pits and one underground mine. The board recently approved a strategic plan that will expand clean coal production to 3.0 million t/y within the next three years at a cost of $180 million.
