DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO - ANVIL MINING of West Perth, Australia, and Montreal (which is increasing its stake to 95%) and its partner have updated the resource estimate for the Kinsevere project, boosting the contained copper number by 450% to 1.6 million t. The project is located 27 km north of Lubumbashi. Measured and indicated resources total 20.1 million tonnes grading 4.3% Cu, and the inferred resource is 20.9 million t grading 3.4% Cu.

The partners approved a Stage 1 expenditure of $35 million to build a crushing plant, 500,000-t/y heavy media separation plant, and an electric furnace to produce 85-95% Cu ingots beginning Q1 2007. Plans are to add a SX/EW plant within two or three years, increasing copper production to 30,000 t/y.
