ONTARIO – The Gekko cyanide detoxification plant at the Phoenix gold project of Toronto-based Rubicon Minerals Corp. has been commissioned and accepted by the mining company. The project lies in the Red Lake Gold Camp, and the first gold pour is expected shortly.

The underground mine and 1,900-t/d mill will produce 165,300 oz of gold annually at an all-in sustaining cost of US$870 per oz. Using a 4.0 g/t cut-off, the Phoenix deposit contains 4.12 million measured and indicated tonnes at 8.52 g/t Au and 7.45 million inferred tonnes at 9.26 g/t Au.
