A Canadian icon and true original, folk entertainer Stompin' Tom Connors passed away on March 6. He leaves behind a legacy of songs that celebrate this country's smallest and most vibrant communities. Most everyone who lives here can sing a few bars of his much-loved The Hockey Song, Bud the Spud and Sudbury Saturday Night.

He wrote and performed other stirring tunes that celebrate Canada's mining industry in ways that few others did – Fire in the Mine, Birth of the Texas Gulf Mine, Coal Boat Song and Muckin' Slushers. His music reverberates with optimism and hard work.

Thanks to our friend Stan Sudol at the Republic of Mining, you can hear the songs again (or for the first time) by clicking here.
