BRITISH COLUMBIA – Another tailings spill has occurred in Canada's westernmost province. This time a leaky valve on a pipeline released less than 20 m3 of tails at the New Gold copper-gold mine belonging to Vancouver-based New Gold.
The containment precautions did their job, and none of the tails reached a surface or groundwater source. The spill is being cleaned up and the valve replaced.
At press time on Sept. 10, New Afton had not issued a press release. Please check at NewGold.com for further information.
