WITWATERSRAND, South Africa The mineral resource of Area 1 at the Burnstone project has grown to 6 million ounces of gold, according to owner GREAT BASIN GOLD of Vancouver. The announcement was made following an independent estimate made by BEHRE DOLBEAR & CO. Measured and indicated resources total 13.11 tonnes at 14.32 g/t Au.

Great Basin has conducted more than 20,000 m of in-fill and step-out drilling in Area 1 since the beginning of this year. Ten more holes are planned there, and drilling is also underway on Area 2. The Burnstone project is located about 80 km southeast of Johannesburg. Mineralization occurs within the Kimberley Reef, one of the four main mineralized horizons in the Witwatersrand goldfield.

Great Basin is encouraged by the resource estimate, enough to advance the project to the feasibility stage. Underground mining of Area 1 is a possibility. For additional details on the Burnstone project, visit the Great Basin web site at www.hdgold.com.
