NEWFOUNDLAND – Toronto’s Marathon Gold Corp. has been prospecting and trenching near its Victory gold deposit at the Valentine gold camp in the west central part of the province. The work is yielding results as the company has outlined more quartz-tourmaline-pyrite-gold veins along a 3-km corridor. The best intercepts from trench 6900 southwest of the Victory deposit are 3.34 g/t Au over 4 metres, 1.83 g/t over 7 metres, and 113 g/t over 4 metres. An outcrop 400 metres southwest of the Victory NE area returned up to 9.49 g/t Au from an area of veining. More assays are pending. The Valentine gold camp currently hosts four near surface, mainly pit constrained, areas of gold mineralization totaling 1,060,100 oz of gold at 2.20 g/t in 15.0 million tonnes (measured and indicated) and 200,000 oz at 2.83 g/t in 2.2 million tonnes (inferred).
