LABRADOR – Alderon Iron Ore Corp. of Vancouver has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction management contract for its Kami iron ore project near Wabush to Worley Parsons Canada. The contract is estimated to be worth $92.5 million.

The two companies have worked together before, and executives of both expressed their pleasure at doing so again.

The $1.27-billion Kami project would have a 30-year life producing concentrate that grades 65.2% Fe at a rate of 8.0 million t/y. A conventional open is planned with a mill that includes grinding and screening followed by gravity and magnetic concentration. Start-up is scheduled for Q4 2015. Concentrate will be railed to the port of Step-Iles.
