LABOUR SETTLEMENT – South Africans return to work

JOHANNESBURG - The five-day, industry-wide strike of South African miners has been settled. The workers accepted wage increases of between 6% and 7% as negotiated by the country's CHAMBER OF MINES on behalf of the producers. The Chamber estimated that for every day of the strike, 40,000 tonnes of gold ore was left in the ground.
