Mine Radio Systems of Goodwood, ON, is spreading the news that VP engineering Wisam Farjow recently completed his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Ryerson University. He successfully defended his thesis on cross layer optimization for integrated networks in underground mining and was nominated for Canada's Governor General's Gold Medal. Wisam oversees all MRS engineering activities throughout the world. He is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), Project Management Institute (PMI), and is a registered professional engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada (PEO).

John Kerr, who graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1964 with a BASc in geological engineering, has joined the board of Vancouver-based Canyon Copper Corp. Bryan Wilson has resigned his seat on the board.

Fortune Minerals of London, ON, welcomes Mike Romaniuk as its new VP operations. He has over 25 years' experience in the mining industry, primarily with Xstrata Nickel and Falconbridge. He will oversee the development of the company's NICO gold-cobalt-bismuth-copper project in the Northwest Territories and Saskatchewan.

Moneta Porcupine Mines of Timmins, ON, has named Roger Aubertin its VP exploration. He was recently exploration and site project manager at Detour Gold. Aubertin is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers and graduated with a BSc in geology from Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal.

Paul-Henri Girard has joined Premier Gold Mines of Thunder Bay, ON, as its senior mining advisor. He was most recently VP Canada for Agnico-Eagle Mines. Another Agnico alumnus, Ebe Scherkus, has joined Premier as its chairman, and Claude Lemasson of Guyana Goldfields will also sit on the Premier board.
