MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Alexis, BCGold, Silver Predator and Source Exploration

Alexis Minerals Corp. of Toronto has named Francois Perron its new president and CEO. He held the same positions at Golden Goose Resources until it was hold to Kodiak Exploration last year. Alexis also noted that David Rigg has been named co-chairman of the board.

Darren O'Brien, formerly of Terrane Metals and Placer Dome, is the new VP exploration at Vancouver-based BCGold Corp.

Silver Predator Corp. of Vancouver has appointed former Yukon premier Piers McDonald to its board of directors. He moved to the Yukon as an underground miner at United Keno Hill Mines, and later enjoyed two decades in politics.

Ewan S. Downie is now chairman of Source Exploration Corp., in Thunder Bay, ON. He was a member of the Wolfden team that received the PDAC Bill Dennis Prospector of the Year award discovery of the West zone deposit at High Lake, NU. In 2004 and 2005, Wolfden received NWOPA awards for discoveries in Ontario's Red Lake gold camp, and in 2010 as Developer of the Year for Premier's Hardrock project. He is also president and CEO of Premier Gold Mines.
