MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Cameco, Golconda and Ryan Gold

Beginning on July 1, 2011, Tim Gitzel will add the responsibilities of CEO to those of president of Saskatoon-based Cameco. Gitzel joined Cameco in 2007 as senior VP and COO and was promoted to president in May 2010. Prior to joining Cameco, he was an executive for Areva. Current CEO Jerry Grandey is retiring.

Golconda Resources of Calgary has promoted David Orr to president from VP, effective immediately.

Toronto-based Ryan Gold's new VP exploration is Ian Gendall. He holds a MSc in exploration geology from Rhodes University in South Africa.
