MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Fort Chimo, Luna Gold, Pershimco and UEX Corp.

Toronto-based Fort Chimo Minerals has named Mani Verma to the post of president and CEO. He was a founder of Micon International and has worked for several operating companies including Asbestos Corp.

Luna Gold of Vancouver has appointed Peter Mah as VP operations and Carlos Paranhos as director exploration Brazil. Mah is a former manager of the Victor diamond mine in Ontario, a group executive at Newmont Mining and was named Mining Man of the Year in 2009 by Mining Magazine.

The new VP exploration at Pershimco of Rouyn-Noranda, QC, is Jean Lafleur. His 30-year-plus career includes McWatters Mining, Champion Minerals, Beartooth Platinum and, for the last seven years, mineral exploration consultant.

UEX Corp. of Vancouver has a new VP of project development, Nan Lee. She is a graduate of McGill University (BEng) and the University of Saskatchewan (MSc in geo-environmental engineering).
