Faithful reader Mike Dry, who moved from South Africa to Canada in 1999, read our item about the Zimbabwean governments plan to force foreign companies to turn over 51% of their businesses in that country to Zimbabwe's indigenous peoples. He wrote:
The opening paragraph speaks of empowering the black agricultural community, which seems like a good thing given that statement on is own. However, if you were to visit there, youd notice that all that move did was mess up the food supply and further impoverish the very people it purported to uplift. The mining grab is sad indeed. It will yield more of the same misery.
