WESTERN AUSTRALIA MINCOR RESOURCES has restarted the Redross Nickel mine, bringing to three the number of mines the company is operating in the Kambalda region. During August 2004, 700 tonnes of ore grading 2.5% Ni were mined at Redross.

The historic Redross mine was first operated in the 1970s. To reopen it, Mincor completed construction of all surface infrastructure and developed a decline to reach several underground levels. The operation has a current mine life of 4 years, which could be extended with successful exploration both down dip and along strike. The latest reserve figures are 2 million tonnes grading 2.7% Ni.
